Securing the New Hybrid Workplace
The hybrid workplace isn't going anywhere and there are many questions about how to ensure the security of identities, data, and physical access across a decentralized workplace. Our study uncovered the answers.
Hybrid's Impact on Workplace Security and Productivity
What was supposed to be a temporary shift of workforces to remote and hybrid models has become permanent. And while some organizations are already fully adapted to this "new normal", many are still catching up.
In the final report of this three-part series, we will show you how organizations are adapting to the security needs of a remote and hybrid workforce and what technologies they have chosen to do so.
The Numbers
Security training for the "new normal"
Most organizations recognized a need to increase data security awareness during the pandemic.
Eliminating passwords to enhance security
Passwords in hybrid workplaces are being replaced with passwordless solutions that promote better security hygiene and user experience like biometric authentication and mobile push.
Compromised credentials strike again
A large proportion of data breaches last year were due to compromised credentials such as weak or stolen passwords.
New data from Entrust reveals the impact of the hybrid workplace on security and productivity.
To better understand the security and productivity impacts of hybrid work environments, Entrust surveyed 1,500 leaders and 1,500 full- and part-time employees from 10 countries. The survey polled workers across four global regions, identifying what leaders are doing to keep pace with the key issues organizations continue to face.

Pulse Check on In-Office Security for Hybrid Work Models
The physical office environment won't be the same as it used to be.
In the second report of the three-part series, Securing the New Hybrid Workplace, we uncover the challenges facing enterprises as they navigate returning to in-office environments in a world where visitor management has become crucial, and stopping the spread of COVID-19 is top-of-mind.
The Numbers
Say "yes" to visitor management
Virtually all leaders and employees agree that it is important that their organization have a system in place to log and track visitors who enter the building.
Stronger security for a good cause
Leaders and employees agree that putting security protocols in place such as logging and tracking who comes and goes from the office will help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Going digital to manage physical access
Many leaders are using digital-based systems to log and track employees and visitors, but that doesn't mean everyone is using the best technology available to them to manage physical access in this digitally-enabled world.

Learn how global in-office security and safety preferences are shaping hybrid workplaces.
New Hybrid Workplace. New Security Concerns.
To determine the security needs of the new hybrid workplace, we surveyed 1,500 business leaders and 1,500 general employees from 10 countries about their thoughts on a distributed workforce.
The study examines new data surrounding hot topics including best practices for hybrid work, office visitor management systems, and how a distributed workplace affects security.
The Numbers
Hybrid is the preferred work model by far
Employees worldwide prefer the hybrid work model, but many may not realize the security implications. Also, employers preparing to provide a hybrid work model need to ensure they are not sacrificing productivity to increase security, and vice versa.
Losing trust is much easier than keeping it
Most employees trust their company's ability to secure their data. Employers are also confident they can protect private information, possibly due to the tools they already have in place to secure their hybrid workplaces.
Hybrid is already everywhere
The large majority of employers are already using a hybrid work model. But are they prepared for the long-term? Solutions like multi-factor authentication (MFA), virtual private networks (VPN), and visitor management seem to be common approaches that are proving their worth.
New data from Entrust highlights global perspectives on hybrid workplace security.
To better understand the security needs of the new hybrid workplace, Entrust surveyed 1,500 leaders from the manager level to the C-suite and 1,500 full- and part-time employees at the entry and associate levels. The survey polled workers in 10 countries across four global regions, uncovering leaders’ current plans for the new hybrid workplace as well as employee perspectives on their work arrangements and organizations’ plans.
Limiting vulnerability, not productivity
The greatest asset of a hybrid workforce is also its greatest liability: being able to work from anywhere can enable productivity, but also increase your network's attack surface. A zero trust framework is the only thing capable of ensuring security in such an environment while still enabling productivity.
Living up to security expectations
Your employees are confident you have the tools to keep their data secure, no matter where they are working. Keep that confidence high with the right combination of technologies, from identity proofing, multi-factor authentication, single-sign-on, virtual private networks, adaptive authentication, and visitor management.
