MINNETONKA, Minn.—(Sept. 30, 2014)—Datacard Group today announced the introduction of mobile card issuance capability based on its market leading Datacard® CardWizard® instant card issuance solution. The combination of physical and mobile issuance provides financial institutions with the ability to offer customers innovative mobile payment options coupled with a physical card to ensure a seamless payment experience.
With the addition of this simultaneous issuance capability, banks will now be able to instantly issue a fully personalized, activated physical magstripe or EMV debit or credit card and have the option to also issue a companion virtual payment credential. As an expert in issuance, Datacard Group creates the issuance data file and, through integration with banking back-end systems, can work with any new or existing mobile credential delivery system.
“We are committed to developing solutions that enable our banking partners to deliver unique and meaningful payment experiences to their end customers, especially with all the new technology innovations that are improving the consumer experience and changing the way businesses operate,” said Russ St. John, senior vice president of global marketing for Datacard Group. “Financial institutions have a great opportunity to capitalize on an ‘ultimate customer experience’ by issuing both a physical and mobile payment credential that allows consumers to choose the way they want to pay.”
With over 17 years of experience in instant issuance, Datacard Group continues to be on the leading edge of payment innovation and at the center of the global trend of providing banks the ability to offer enhanced customer experiences. In just one year, over 15 million cards were instantly issued on Datacard instant issuance solutions and the company has seen a steady stream of new international deployments.
The need for this combination of offering physical cards and mobile payment capabilities is more relevant than ever with the growing number of data breaches creating the requirement for mass reissuance of physical cards. Additionally, the migration to more secure chip-based payment cards has financial institutions looking for ways to ensure timely delivery and proper education to the end customer on additional security of these payment cards.
“The capability to provide banks with the flexibility to provide both physical and virtual payment capability demonstrates our focus to deliver relevant solutions to meet market demands,” added St. John. “As payment technology evolves, we will continue to deliver flexible, agnostic solutions that ensure our customers have the technology they need to keep up with the rapid pace of change.” For more information about Datacard instant issuance solutions, please visit https://www.datacard.com/financial/instant-issuance-products-and-services.
