The new year is almost upon us, and for many people that means resolutions involving spending more time with the kids, working more toward that promotion and perhaps shedding a few unwanted pounds.
But for all companies out there — regardless of type or size — there should be a single priority atop the resolutions list: boosting enterprise security. Here are some tips to help get you there in 2015:
- Authenticate mobile devices: As a recent InformationWeek article pointed out, the need to ensure mobile security is just as important as any other device. And since mobile devices are constantly growing within the enterprise sphere, 2015 may likely mark the year when mobile security isn't just highly recommended, but required for companies.
- Make cybersecurity an open conversation: Cybersecurity isn't the kind of discussion that should be confined to the boardroom. To truly ensure your enterprise is a top performer as far as protection goes, you need to reach out to all staff members — and customers — with safe computing strategies. Hold staff meetings in which a portion of them are devoted to security.
- Don't start strong and peter out: The typical problem with a New Year's resolution is that it's hard to sustain. Give yourself a 5-day-a-week gym assignment, and watch yourself check out at Day 3. Make sure that doesn't happen with your business's commitment to cybersecurity. After all, threats are always evolving, and so your company needs to be prepared to alter and grow its defensive strategy accordingly.
By following these steps, you can turn a New Year's resolution into a great year of business for your enterprise — one in which you don't need to worry about being unprepared to face cybercrime.
