It is highly recommended that you back up your server certificate in a secure location.

To back up your certificate and private key files:

Open the HTTPD.CONF file and locate your virtual host entry for the site/domain being secured by the certificate. you will find the name and location of the private key file, the certificate file, and any chain certificate files being used by this site/domain listed there.

Copy your private key file <file>.key, you certificate file <certificate>.crt, and any chain certificates you used <chain certificate>.crt to a secure location.

Note: store your private key’s password in a different location for added security.

To restore your certificate and private key files:

Copy your private key file <file>.key, you certificate file <certificate>.crt, and any chain certificates you used <chain certificate>.crt to the server.

Open the HTTPD.CONF file and locate your vertical host entry for the site/domain being secured by the certificate. Define the paths for the files under the virtual host entry as shown in the example above.
