OTTAWA – (March 03, 2020) – During the lead up to International Women's Day on March 8, Entrust Datacard will promote female leadership and empowerment in the Ottawa tech community. Marisia Campbell, VP and Associate General Counsel, will join a panel at Elevate International's International Women's Day on Parliament conference, and Anahid Khajooei, Software Development Manager, will take part in Kanata North Business Association's International Women's Week mentorship program that kicks off on March 5th.
International Women's Day on Parliament is an annual leadership conference at the Sir John A. MacDonald Building in Ottawa, welcoming over 500 participants from government, industry, and academia. On March 6 at 11:15 a.m., Marisia Campbell will participate in a panel titled "Scaling the Tech C-Suite: Empowering Women Leaders to Transform Our Tech Industry & Economy" with female tech executives from MMH Blockchain Group, Nokia, Capital Angel Network and more.
"Research shows that Canada's economy could achieve $150 billion in incremental GDP by 2026 by prioritizing gender parity," said Sonya Shorey, panel host and Vice President of Strategy, Marketing and Communications, Invest Ottawa and Bayview Yards. "Our nation must attract and retain more women in high productivity sectors such as tech to capitalize on this economic opportunity. Moreover, it is imperative to increase the number of women in C-suite leadership roles. This panel will explore the action required to make progress towards these goals, and create the sustainable corporate culture, policy and opportunity that drives long-term impact."
