MINNETONKA, Minn.—(Oct. 7, 2014)—Datacard Group today announced that they have been awarded a 2014 Blue Shield Award for Secure Anti-fake Technologies Innovation at the 9th Security Document Summit.  The award was for the Datacard® SD460™ and CD800™ card printers with lamination and new tactile impression feature that helps make cards more secure by physically impressing a tamper-evident image into the card substrate at the time of personalization.

The recognition took place at the Security Document Summit event at the Fragrant Hill Empark Hotel in Beijing, China on Sept. 19, 2014. This event is China’s largest and most influential forum to showcase cutting-edge technology for the secure identification market in China and Asia. It attracts attendees such as the ministry of public security, international and domestic anti-counterfeiting organizations and security printing enterprises.

The Blue Shield Awards—coveted awards in the industry since 2009—are comprised of six categories including Excellent Application, Innovation, Chinese Enterprises with Significant Presence in Overseas Market, Foreign-investment Enterprise with Significant presence in the Chinese Market, Person of the Year, and Lifetime Achievements in the Field of Anti-Counterfeiting. Innovation award winners are selected based on proven continuous development of innovative anti-counterfeiting technologies, global reach and their leadership position in the marketplace.
“We are honored that the organizing committee has awarded Datacard Group with a Blue Shield Innovation Award and would like to thank them for the decades of support they have provided to our customers and industry partners,” said Albert Wu, vice president of  marketing and business development for Datacard Group, China. “The Datacard® SD460™ and CD800™ card printers deter against fraud and alteration with the new patent-pending tactile impression feature that causes the overlay to tear if removal is attempted. Paired with serialized laminates that provide edge-to-edge protection, these printers enable greater card security and durability.”
