MINNETONKA, Minn.—(Dec. 8, 2014)—Entrust Datacard Corporation today announced that Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) is participating in their Card Validation Program (CVP) which allows them to validate the compatibility of their EMV smart cards with Datacard® personalization solutions prior to full implementation.

G&D —a leading global supplier of smart cards—is participating in the CVP program to help lower costs for issuers by offering discounted card personalization on G&D chip cards pre-validated on Datacard hardware and software systems.  In addition, issuers will benefit from shortened development time to test personalization card objects and ensure a seamless chip card personalization process on Datacard systems.

When issuers invest in smart cards, they want to make certain they are investing in the right card, chip and personalization technologies so that they protect their investments and maintain longevity for their card programs,” said Edgar Salib, Group Senior Vice President and Head of the Financial Institutions division at G&D. “Partnering with Entrust Datacard on their Card Validation Program does just that – it not only ensures that our chips are validated and work well with Datacard solutions, but it also gives our customers peace of mind when they know that their investment is tested and proven before production of their customers’ cards begins.”

Through this program, G&D will be deploying their new generation of smart card products with a fully standardized personalization interface built upon the EMV Common Personalization Specifications. With this new interface, issuers will be able to personalize various G&D products and even switch between different platforms (native or Java) with minimal impact to their existing personalization environment.

With the transition to smart card technology, Entrust Datacard wanted to provide a service to its customers to help with mass roll-out of their card programs.  They launched the CVP program to the market in May 2014 to help their customers validate and test smart card chips before full implementation.
