The other specific requirement for Intel VPro certificates is that the OU field contain a specific string so that the certificate can be identified for usage as an Intel VPro certificate.

During the CSR generation process, the OU field will need to be set specifically to contain "Intel(R) Client Setup Certificate" .

However, the CA/Browser Forum has recently passed resolution SC47 which disallows OU's in public trust TLS/SSL certificates, by September 1, 2022.

Entrust will comply with this resolution by preventing any OU usage in public trust TLS/SSL certificates around June 29, 2022, prior to the required date of Sep 1, 2022.  Please note that this change does not affect PKI as a Service and customers will continue to be able to issue certificates that contain the OU field with that service.

This will also mean that certificates that enabled Intel VPro management issued after this change takes effect must have an EKU for VPro Management, rather than leverage the OU. This functionality to leverage an EKU for VPRO management has been available in ECS since December 2021 – we recommend you begin using this method before the OU method is disabled.
