MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. and MUMBAI, India.—(Feb. 12, 2015)—Entrust Datacard today announced that the company recently hosted a seminar on the benefits of instant financial card issuance for a select group of financial institutions on Jan. 28, 2015 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Mumbai, India.

Jointly hosted by Entrust Datacard and Banking Frontiers—a leading media house in the financial industry sector—the event focused on the market drivers of emerging instant issuance trends, balancing customer demands with security and cost requirements, as well as enhancing the overall customer experience with digital branches.

During the session, Ray Wizbowski, vice president of the financial vertical for Entrust Datacard, shared best practices from other successful instant issuance implementations and showcased how financial institutions can drive revenue in their credit, debit or ATM card programs through implementing instant issuance in digital branches.

“Annual debit card payments continue to increase by double-digits in India which will remain a debit card market within the overall card portfolio,” said Wizbowski. “This growth indicates a steady shift away from the use of cash and checks as consumers – especially the younger generation – embrace more card-based payment methods for online and POS transactions.”

Wizbowski’s presentation focused on highlighting how instant issuance of permanent payment cards can help financial institutions align with this growing debit card market – as well as appeal to India’s burgeoning millennial population. With instant issuance programs, banks are able to issue fully activated and secure credit, debit or ATM cards at the branch level – eliminating the traditional waiting period for cards to arrive in the mail.

State Bank of India (SBI) reinforced Wizbowski’s message with a presentation sharing the success of their recently launched sbiINTOUCH digital branches – the first integrated instant issuance kiosk solution in South Asia that enables secure and real time issuance of a fully personalized debit card. Other panel members included senior executives from Punjab National Bank, Citi Bank, Yes Bank, Axis Bank and leading system integrators such as Accenture and FSS.

This event was a great forum to discuss how leading banks in India can integrate instant issuance into their digital branch strategy to help attract next generation customers,” added Wizbowski. “I am honored to have had the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion with veteran bankers and a leading consultancy firm.”
