MINNEAPOLIS – (May 12, 2020) – Entrust Datacard, a leading provider of trusted identity and secure transaction technology solutions, today released the Drop on Demand Printing Module Gen 2 for Datacard® MX Series Card Issuance Systems. The module supports both the government and financial markets with a new varnish printing capability that can increase durability, adds additional security features and allows for card design texture.

Best-in-class government card solutions

The Drop on Demand Printing Module Gen 2 offers high-quality, color images and the ability to apply varnish as an additional layer of protection to meet stringent ISO 24789 durability standards. This varnish can be applied edge-to-edge or as a spot application. Precision card handling allows for registered color and laser engraved photo personalization for highly secure personalized cards. This new module helps ensure you're ready to support best-in-class government identification card programs.

Delivering superior financial card brand differentiation

The new module meets the growing flat-card trend in the credit and debit card market, so that customers can engage cardholders with high-quality, attractive images for added visual appeal. The edge-to-edge full color printing and varnish create design opportunities for unique card textures. And, this Drop on Demand Printing Module Gen 2 offers printing flexibility to start with black and white personalization and upgrade to add CMY color print stations as your customer needs expand. The beltless card design helps ensure data integrity from the first to the last card in the job.

Other module features include:

  • 600 dpi printheads for higher-quality printing, with the ability to effectively print at 1,200 dpi resolution
  • An additional  UV-curing  lamp designed to partially cure ink, to allow for printing of a varnish overlay
  • Module flexibility, add additional printing capabilities as needs change
