In parts of the world the months of January and February often bring snow and cold. In recent years, they’ve also brought (and unlike snow and cold, we’re very much in favor of this) renewed focus on data security and privacy. On January 28, Data Privacy Day was observed around the world. Today, February 5, marks the global recognition of Safer Internet Day.

Creating a Safer Internet

According to Insafe, the organization spearheading Safer Internet Day, its slogan ‘Together for a Better Internet’ is “a call to action for all stakeholders to join together and play their part in creating a better internet for everyone, and especially for younger users”. This ambitious but increasingly critical goal is one Entrust Security shares. Says CEO Cindy Provin:

Ensuring the integrity and security of data is a challenge for businesses of every size — from 100 employees to the Fortune 100. In our digitally connected world nearly everyone uses the internet for work and entertainment, yet it’s also the most vulnerable entry point for viruses, malware, and cybercriminals. Encouraging responsible use of the internet is of paramount importance, as is using data security solutions that protect sensitive information.
