We hear a lot about the luck of the Irish in March. As my name suggests, I am onboard with Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations. At the same time, I am still thinking fondly about February.

In February, Entrust Security accepted two Cybersecurity Excellence Awards. Cindy Provin and our nShield as a Service were among the program’s winners.

Cybersecurity Insiders worked with the Information Security Community on LinkedIn to present the 2020 Cybersecurity Excellence Awards. These awards recognize companies, individuals and products that demonstrate excellence, innovation and leadership in information security.

Cindy Provin captures Gold in the Cybersecurity Woman of the Year award

The award organizers recognized Cindy’s work carving out Entrust Security while part of Thales. They highlighted her leadership in the divesture of Entrust from Thales to Entrust Datacard. And they noted her work doing that while ensuring Entrust met its day-to-day business goals. Having gone through this journey with Cindy, it is a real testament to her strong leadership skills, business acumen and her focus on customers, partners and colleagues that allowed us to meet all of our objectives.

Cindy has demonstrated her commitment to – and had a major impact on – the cybersecurity industry throughout her career. Prior to joining Entrust Security, Cindy served as CEO, president, and vice president of global strategy and marketing for Thales eSecurity. She played a leadership role in the Thales acquisitions of Entrust , Vormetric and Gemalto as well as in the acquisition of Entrust Security by Entrust Datacard last year. Prior to Thales, Cindy was vice president of the product division for Racal Data Group.

Today Cindy oversees Entrust Security’s global business operations. We have a major presence in Australia, Hong Kong, Tokyo, the UK and the US As general manager of Entrust Security, Cindy leads a world-class team of security professionals who empower leading organizations by delivering trust, integrity and control to their business-critical information and applications.

nShield as a Service earns a Silver Winner 2020 designation

One of Entrust Security’s offerings that empower our customers is nShield as a Service.

This solution enables organizations to outsource the management and administration of their HSMs. Our dedicated Entrust team manages the HSMs within industry best practices and PCI-compliant processes. The Entrust team also can run key ceremonies for enterprises under fully compliant and auditable conditions.

Enterprises benefit from this subscription-based service by lowering their HSM total cost of ownership. And subscribers retain control of their keys through strong multiparty authorization.

The nShield as a Service offering generates, accesses and protects cryptographic key material using dedicated FIPS 140-2-certified nShield Connect HSMs. It employs a cryptographically secure computing environment called Codesafe. That enables users to develop application code to run inside the tamper-resistant boundary of the HSMs. And it provides protection against Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) as well as insider and other adversarial attacks.

Recognition of Entrust’s industry leadership is especially noteworthy in today’s day and age

The World Economic Forum notes that “cyber strategy is business strategy” and will resonate strongly in 2020 and beyond. WEF adds that 68% of business leaders believe the cybersecurity risks confronting their organizations are on the rise.

Investment in cybersecurity solutions continues to rise along with that. IDC expects cybersecurity-related spending to exceed $134 billion in 2022. Prime Indexes says that the cybersecurity market will grow at a CAGR of 11% between 2017 and 2022. By that time, it estimates, the market will reach $231.94 billion.

New companies are rushing into the market to jump on this opportunity. In 2018, venture capitalists invested $5.3 billion in cybersecurity companies. Meanwhile, many existing companies are now adding cybersecurity offerings to their portfolios.

That means organizations working to secure their businesses, customer data and devices must practice extra caution. They need to break through the noise to select and implement the most effective cybersecurity solutions. And they should work to identify and engage with cybersecurity experts with proven solutions and results.

Our 2020 Cybersecurity Excellence Awards wins help illustrate that Entrust has the expertise and solutions that organizations need in today’s challenging cybersecurity environment.

Holger Schulze, CEO of Cybersecurity Insiders and founder of the 500,000-member Information Security Community on LinkedIn which organizes the annual Cybersecurity Excellence Awards says:

“We congratulate Entrust Security for their recognition as a Gold and Silver award winner in the 2020 Cybersecurity Excellence Awards. With over 500 entries in more than 90 award categories, the 2020 Cybersecurity Excellence Awards program is highly competitive and all winners reflect the very best in innovation and excellence in tackling today’s urgent cybersecurity challenges.”
