3-Year Standard Support Announcement
Entrust is very pleased to announce our 3-year standard support policy to our customers and partners.
Effective November 1st 2005, Entrust products will be supported for the longest of:
- 3 years from original release, OR
- 1 year after the next major or minor superseding release
Prior to this announcement, the product support window was the longest of 2 years from original release or 1 year after a superseding release, whichever was greater.
The main goal of this new policy is to facilitate planning within our customer base. The 3-year policy offers the following benefits for our customers and partners:
- Longer industry competitive standard support terms facilitate customer planning
- Extended Support status will be visible at least 12 months before end of Standard Support
- Mandatory release upgrade status will be visible at commercial release
- The cost of extended support will be consistent across customer base
Entrust is also introducing a new communication vehicle on the Entrust TrustedCare customer support portal that will identify current status on standard support terms, extended support terms and mandatory release upgrades as they relate to individual products. This vehicle is available in the form of a table and can be viewed by customers with Entrust TrustedCare accounts by clicking on Product Support Status.
With respect to Appliance products such as Entrust Entelligence™ Messaging Server 8.0, standard support is available from 3 years of date of shipment versus 3 years from date of initial product release. For example, Entrust started shipping Entrust Entelligence Messaging Server in September, 2005. If Customer A purchases Entelligence Messaging Server on December 30, 2005, Entrust will offer 3 years standard support to Customer A effective December 30, 2005 through December 30, 2008.
The product support policy noted above is subject to product discontinuance plans. If a product has been discontinued then the support terms will be as noted in the discontinuance announcement.
