SC Magazine Names Entrust IdentityGuard 'Most Innovative Authentication Platform in 2007'

SC Magazines Awards 2008 Logo

Building on the momentum of SC Magazine's praise of Entrust IdentityGuard and Entrust Entelligence Messaging Server, in December the publication named Entrust IdentityGuard as the most innovative authentication platform in 2007. Says SC Magazine, "With inexpensive custom-made grid cards and tokens that cost only about $5 a piece, we expect to see IdentityGuard in more places very soon. This addresses the need for multifactor authentication very nicely and has enabled implementations for over 60 million users."

In addition to the praise of the award-winning versatile authentication platform, SC Magazine also named Entrust as a finalist for the Excellence Award Best Security Company category. IT-security vendors nominate their solutions for consideration in SC Magazine's Awards program, and entries are judged by a panel of 18 leading chief security officers from major corporations and large public-sector organizations. Digital Signatures Help Secure More Than 18 Million U.S. ePassports

Since August 2006 only ePassports have been issued in the U.S. As security guidelines to travel between the United States, Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean now require a valid passport, the issuance of ePassports has risen dramatically. To date, the U.S. Department of State has issued more than 18 million ePassports, and Entrust's digital signature technology helps protect each one. In addition to the U.S., Entrust helps secure ePassports and national ID cards for the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Spain, New Zealand and Singapore.

"The digital signatures on the new passports illustrate how PKI technology is being used in a number of new applications, reinforcing PKI as the 'gold standard' for digital security," said Entrust Chairman, President and CEO Bill Conner. "It's really a 'PKI 2.0' trend we're seeing in the market right now where more organizations are realizing the value and unprecedented scalability PKI technology affords them when deploying and managing security for digital identities and information - especially on a mass scale like this."
