Enrollment Server for VPN
Entrust Authority™ Enrollment Server for VPN works with Entrust Authority™ Security Manager to issue digital certificates to virtual private network (VPN) devices such as routers, gateways, and firewalls. These digital device certificates make it possible to secure communications with customers, partners, suppliers and employees over virtual private networks (VPNs).
Enhanced Security — The Enrollment Server issues digital device certificates required for IPSec (IP Security) communications. IPSec is a set of protocols developed by the IETF to support secure exchange of packets at the IP layer. IPSec has been deployed widely to implement virtual private networks (VPNs). VPN solutions are ideal for business users who want to secure:
- Internet remote access
- Branch office connectivity (intranets)
- Communications with partners, suppliers and customers (extranets)
Easy to deploy — The Enrollment Server for VPN installs in minutes on Windows Server 2003 and is simple to operate. There is no client-side software to download or install. With no software distribution and modest support requirements, IT departments can deploy their scarce resources elsewhere.
Digital certificates issued through the Enrollment Server for VPN have lifetimes that can last up to 35 years, with no annual renewal fees. Longer certificate lifetimes mean less administrative overhead, freeing up your staff and customers to focus on doing business, not managing certificates.
Interoperable — The Enrollment Server for VPN can issue certificates to any VPN device that supports PKCS#10 or Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol (SCEP). A wide range of VPN products from leading vendors like Cisco, Nortel and Check Point are supported. A simple device certificate can enable strong authentication for enterprise servers and various mobile/remote devices.
Scalable — Each Enrollment Server for VPN can issue hundreds of thousands of certificates and can support a large number of Administrators. The Enrollment Server for VPN can also be geographically separated from Entrust Authority Security Manager adding additional flexibility to large deployments. Multiple Certification Authority configurations can extend the number of users into the millions.
