Entrust Authority PKCS#7 Toolkit for C/C++

AES Algorithm support

Entrust's world-leading cryptographic team implemented and performed speed optimization testing on each of the five competing Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) candidate algorithm finalists. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) selected Rijndael as the proposed AES.

How fast was the Entrust optimized version of Rijndael? The result was almost twice as fast as the NIST version!

Algorithm Megabits per Second
NIST version of Rijndael 24
Entrust optimized version of Rijndael 43

All figures are bulk data encryption throughput in CBC mode in units of megabits per second. The above results were obtained on a 200 MHz Pentium PC running Windows NT 4.0. (OS: Windows NT/x86, version 4.0) 200 MHz in accordance with NIST’s AES requirements. The tests were done using the Entrust optimized version of Rijndael and the version available from the NIST website.

Support for the AES algorithm is available in Release 6.0 of the PKCS#7 Toolkit for C/C++.
