    Entrust was incorporated as Entrust Technologies Inc. in the state of Maryland on December 16, 1996. Entrust Limited, the Canadian subsidiary, was incorporated in the province of Ontario on December 20, 1996. Entrust changed its name to Entrust, Inc. on June 4, 2001 in the United States and to Entrust Limited on December 13, 2002 in Canada.

    Entrust was founded as a business unit within Nortel Networks Corporation (previously known as Northern Telecom), in January 1994. In December of 1996, Entrust Technologies Inc. was formed as an entrepreneurial spin-off from Nortel.
