ActivCard and Entrust Collaborate to Provide High Performance Smart Card Solutions
New Solutions Feature Tight Integration of Entrust Authority(TM) Security Manager 6.0 and Entrust Entelligence(TM) 6.0 With ActivCard Gold(TM) 2.2 Client Software

WASHINGTON -- ActivCard? (Nasdaq: ACTI; Nasdaq Europe: ACTI), the leader in IDentity Management (IDM) software, announced today at the CardTech/SecurTech ID 2002 tradeshow that it has signed an Entrust Developer Program agreement to deliver high-performance solutions for usage and management of Entrust (Nasdaq: ENTU - News) digital identities (IDs) on a multi-application smart card.
ActivCard has achieved the Entrust Ready(TM) designation for ActivCard Gold 2.2, an authentication and digital signature solution for multi-application smart cards, which last week won the award for best IT security application at the Cartes 2002 trade show in Paris, France.

Sign-On to Entrust? Entelligence Leverages Biometrics for Strong Authentication
ActivCard Trinity(TM) will soon provide strong multi-factor authentication to Entrust digital IDs stored on a user's PC or smart card. A single authentication to Trinity will enable the user to sign-on to the desktop operating system, Entrust Entelligence desktop solutions 6.0, other Entrust Ready applications, the network operating system and many other enterprise applications. Additionally, Trinity's biometric capabilities can enhance the security of the authentication process through the use of fingerprint biometrics in addition to a smart card, one-time password token, password, or a combination of these methods.
Securing the Desktop With Entrust Internet Security Solutions and ActivCard Smart Card Client Software
The integration of Entrust Authority Security Manager 6.0 and Entrust Entelligence 6.0 with the ActivCard Gold client -- a leading smart card client software application with 1.5 million licenses sold to date -- provides government and businesses with a strong, flexible and easy-to-use authentication solution using smart cards.
The combined products deliver a secure desktop solution that allows end-users who have their digital ID stored on a smart card supported by ActivCard Gold, to sign and/or encrypt both files and e-mails with Entrust Entelligence. Both administrators and end-users can benefit from the automated, transparent certificate renewal and security management features provided through Entrust security management capabilities.
Leadership in High Performance and High Volume Card Deployment
ActivCard Identity Management System(TM) (AIMS) also delivers a complete solution to issue, use and manage digital IDs on smart IDs. ActivCard is completing integration with Entrust Authority Enrollment Server for Smart Cards for the AIMS card issuance and management system. In conjunction with the Entrust Authority Enrollment Server for Smart Cards, the AIMS system delivers high volume deployment and manageability capabilities that enable organizations to more easily scale to millions of Entrust users. This is a significant development for service providers, large enterprise customers and government agencies that must issue tens of thousands of smart ID cards every day that contain public-key infrastructure (PKI) based digital IDs.
Entrust and ActivCard are also working together on high volume and high performance issuance and management of Entrust digital IDs via ActivCard's Corporate Access Card Solution Suites for Sun(TM) Solaris(TM) and Microsoft? Windows?, which were announced by ActivCard last week at Cartes 2002. The ActivCard CAC Solution Suites include ActivCard Gold, AIMS, hardware, software and services that companies need to more easily issue and manage multi-function 'smart' identification (ID) badges that enhance network security while reducing IT help desk costs and increasing employee productivity.
Extending Security for Web Transactions
The integration of ActivCard Gold with the Entrust TruePass software will enable organizations to extend security beyond the desktop to Web-based transactions, delivering strong identification to Web portals. A key component of the Entrust Secure Web Portal Solution, Entrust TruePass also provides verifiable transactions through digital signatures, as well as industry-leading data protection and privacy capabilities.
