Entrust Japan and Waveset Announce Alliance To Deliver Identity Management Solutions to the Japanese Market
31 Jul 2003
Chiyoda-ku, TOKYO Japan and AUSTIN, TX - Entrust Japan Co. Ltd., and Waveset Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of innovative identity management solutions, today announced a strategic alliance that leverages each company's technology and expertise to bring to market tightly integrated, comprehensive identity management solutions.
The alliance will allow Entrust Japan to add Identity Management to its current suite of security products and thus provide an even more comprehensive offering for the "3A" market in Japan. The 3A market includes Administration, Authentication and Authorization. According to IDC, the annual growth rate of the 3A market between 2001 and 2006 is expected to be 25.0%. Additionally, Waveset will incorporate Entrust's strong security capabilities in a version of its Waveset Lighthouse? solution to enhance the secure management of identities for those organizations that require a higher standard of protection. These services will include certificate-based authentication, the use of secure email for approval processing, and a digitally-signed audit log of all user and administrator activity related to identity permissions and profiles.
"As organizations continue to extend strategic business resources beyond traditional corporate boundaries, the challenge of providing open, yet secure access to increasingly diverse and growing populations of users becomes incredibly difficult," said Brad Almond, president, Entrust Japan. "By combining the Waveset and Entrust technologies, we are able to deliver a suite of products unmatched in the industry to allow Secure Identity Management across this complex identity landscape."
The Waveset Lighthouse identity management technology, which includes provisioning management, password management, identity profile management and auditing, provides organizations with a solution for managing user access privileges and identity data across a broad range of legacy, client/server and Web-based environments. Entrust's portfolio of security solutions for desktop, Web portal, and Web services-based applications enables accountability and privacy for information exchanged over the Internet and enterprise networks. The joint offering will leverage Entrust's broad reseller network and local expertise to provide governments and businesses with secure identity management solutions that reduce administrative costs and provide comprehensive, secure administration and audit of user identities and access controls. As part of the alliance, Entrust and its authorized resellers will deliver a localized version of Waveset Lighthouse later this year.
Together, Entrust and Waveset offer customers a secure identity management strategy that:
- Efficiently and cost-effectively manages the complete lifecycles of user identities, both inside and outside of the organization;
- Can be extended to secure identities across diverse applications and environments; and
- Enables accountability for administrative activities and provides privacy for stored user identities and information.
"Enterprise organizations around the globe require advanced, robust solutions that enable maintenance of an up-to-date view into user activity," said Michael D'Eath, vice-president of corporate and business development at Waveset. "Our evolving alliance with Entrust, now including Entrust Japan, enables Waveset to capitalize on Asia-Pacific market opportunities by helping our joint customers ensure that corporate policies are in place and are effectively applied to protect an organization's most sensitive assets."
