Brazilian Bank Selects Entrust To Secure Online Transactions
Entrust?s PKI solution enables Caixa Economica Federal to comply with Brazilian government?s e-commerce regulations
09 Jul 2003
DALLAS - Entrust, Inc. [NASDAQ: ENTU], a global leader in securing digital identities and information, today announced a multi-year agreement to supply Caixa Economica Federal, a leading Brazilian financial institution, with one million digital identities (IDs) in 2003 and fulfill scheduled purchases of additional IDs through 2006, enabling the bank to comply with government public-key infrastructure (PKI) regulations.
With the approval of a digital signature law in late 2002, the Brazilian government mandated that all Brazilian financial institutions must offer PKI-enabled secure transactions as part of the country's new Electronic Payment System. Per the agreement with Entrust, Caixa will purchase Entrust Digital IDs to be issued to its 1.4 million online banking customers, enabling them to securely access their saving accounts and execute transactions. Modulo Security, the leading PKI consulting and services organization in Brazil, will work in partnership with Entrust to deliver the solution to Caixa.
"Our Secure Online Banking System is setting the standard for secure e-commerce projects across the Latin American market in compliance with the new digital signature legislation. Entrust's software solutions, together with Modulo Security Professional Services, provide Caixa with a solution to our customers that is reliable, secure and brings a trusted environment for their online payments and transactions," said Josemir Assis, chief information officer at Caixa Economica Federal.
"We are pleased to have won Caixa as a customer through the combination of our market-leading software and our relationship with Modulo Security," said Kevin Simzer, senior vice-president at Entrust. "Caixa is paving a leadership path for financial institutions in Brazil and their selection of our software provides them with a flexible, cost-effective investment for future growth."
