WASHINGTON, DC - Entrust, Inc. (Nasdaq: ENTU), a leading global provider of Internet security solutions and services, today applauded the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) establishment of a new national cyber security division charged with directing policies and agency initiatives to secure government and private network infrastructures.
"The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and its private sector partners understand that the need to address the growing threat of cyber attacks is now mission critical," said Bill Conner, chairman and chief executive officer of Entrust. "Today's announcement and the pending appointment of a central official to direct DHS efforts on cyber security are welcome news, and show that the leadership within DHS is serious about moving forward with needed deployments and implementation of critical security technology programs.
"Of great importance, and something Entrust has worked on a great deal, is the need to secure the Department's networks, and then to establish secure information-sharing among other Federal agencies, as well as state and local governments. Achieving this goal must serve as the initial benchmark for success in meeting our nation's cyber security objectives."
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has turned an important corner by officially establishing a strong office to focus squarely on the cyber threats that pose great harm to both the nation's physical and economic security, and by committing its strong leadership team to deploy the most effective security technologies available.
Entrust is a leading Federal partner on Internet security initiatives, having deployed cyber security solutions in more than 50 Federal departments and agencies, including Department of Energy, Department of Agriculture National Finance Center, Treasury Department, Department of Labor, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, NASA, United States Patent and Trademark Office and more. Additionally, Entrust's public key infrastructure (PKI) technology powers the Federal Bridge Certificate Authority (FBCA), or Federal Bridge, which enables Federal agencies to securely communicate and share information. Entrust also serves as the PKI technology provider to three out of the four agencies that are currently interoperable via the Federal Bridge (Treasury, USDA and NASA).
