Entrust Product Integration with Sun Web Services Identity Platform for the Enterprise Provides Customers with Option for Identity Management and Single-Sign-On

12 Mar 2002

DALLAS -- Entrust, Inc. [Nasdaq: ENTU], a leading global provider of Internet security solutions and services today announced its support of the Sun Open Net Environment (Sun ONE) Platform for Network Identity - the end-to-end technology and services solution for customers to rapidly develop their own open, end-to-end and in-time identity infrastructure today.

Entrust provides the identification, verification, privacy, entitlements and security management capabilities needed to accelerate the development and deployment of federated network identity solutions for customers who want an alternative solution that will empower them to manage and maintain their own identity systems. Network Identity solutions are designed to help enterprises manage and maintain one of their most vital assets - the identities of customers, employees, partners, or devices such as smart cards, mobile phones or network components.

Entrust provides secure solutions for its customers in an open, standards-based environment. Support for an open, federated system provides single sign-on for the Entrust customer base into both its own and other Liberty-based identity solutions. This allows Entrust customers to leverage Liberty-based identities as part of a broader enhanced security solution. This is consistent with the company's long-standing commitment to interoperability and providing choice for customers.

"As a leading provider of standards-based Internet security solutions and a Liberty Alliance member, our solutions are designed to interoperate with the components of the Sun ONE platform for network identity to provide enhanced identification, verification, privacy and security management capabilities for customers," said Ian Curry, vice-president of product management, Entrust, Inc. "The Sun ONE platform for Network Identity and Entrust products can be combined to give our customers the choice to securely control their own customer information and do business anywhere, anytime and on any device."

Identity refers to the basic information, which is stored and accessed to identify network users. This might include name, address, phone numbers, work and home email addresses, credit cards, club memberships, social security number, healthcare, banking or business records.
