Entrust IdentityGuard Helps Secure Aristex Health Solutions, Canada’s First-Ever Nationwide Provider of Electronic Health Records

29 Nov 2006

DALLAS -  As more service sectors move to storing records, data and information online, the need for strong security solutions continues to be a priority. Following that trend, Canadian-based Aristex Health Solutions Inc. selected worldwide security expert Entrust, Inc. [NASDAQ: ENTU] to deploy Entrust IdentityGuard for strong protection of their online environment.

In a first for the Canadian healthcare system, Aristex will provide patients with online access to their comprehensive health records and medical history - part of an initiative in Canada labeled e-Health. Aristex sought a strong, cost-effective authentication solution that would not only provide mutual authentication to all parties, but also help protect sensitive information and maintain patient confidence.

"Our software solution, Global Lifeguard, will give Canadians unprecedented access to their personal medical information," said Mario Voltolina, CEO of Aristex Health Solutions Inc.  "Ensuring the privacy of our member's personal information is one of our prime directives. To that end, we have worked with Entrust to establish robust authentication solutions that not only help ease the minds of our members, but also provide strong security to help improve client confidence."

Prompted by recent natural disasters across the globe, Aristex took this important step so that vital records would not be lost to fire, flood or other unfortunate circumstances. Archiving the information in an online medium not only helps safeguard the data, but can also provide Canadian citizens - and their doctors - access to their medical information whether they are at home, work or out of the country. The result - better, more comprehensive care for patients, and improved communication amongst healthcare professionals.

"Being able to access electronic health records will offer unprecedented flexibility and convenience for millions of Canadian citizens whether they are in the country or traveling abroad and need treatment. However, because of the highly sensitive nature of these records, electronic access would not possible without a strong authentication platform to protect access," said Entrust Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Conner. "We applaud Aristex for offering such convenience inside a trusted ecosystem that protects the information and identities of the Canadian citizens."

Aristex is currently conducting a pilot program of the service before its full launch in January 2007.

As an established global leader in online security, Entrust has developed an open multifactor authentication platform that can help organizations protect user identities to help reduce the risk of fraudulent transactions. Entrust IdentityGuard provides choice and flexibility to both end-users and enterprises by offering a variety of multifactor and mutual authentication capabilities.

Based out of Toronto, Ontario, Aristex Health Solutions Inc. is the first nationwide provider of personal health records in Canada. Aristex also offers a wide range of managed IT solutions including business strategy, web development support and professional consulting services to healthcare organizations dedicated to the betterment of patient care.
