Entrust IdentityGuard Empowering Remote Workers in Denmark’s Vejle County
Low cost, flexible integration and ease of use were key factors in selecting Entrust IdentityGuard to provide security for VPN remote access

DALLAS – In the process of consolidating individual counties in Denmark into regions made up of several counties the need for flexible workplaces was ever increasing. For Vejle Amt. (county), this posed a unique dilemma because some workers now would begin to work at the regional offices several days a week while continuing their former positions in the county office. The need to secure VPN remote access for these workers became apparent, so Vejle Amt. decided to use Entrust, Inc.’s [NASDAQ: ENTU] Entrust IdentityGuard to secure SSL VPN with Checkpoint Connectra.
“We explored a lot of options when it came to strong authentication – time synchronous tokens, USB tokens and others, but they were very expensive with some hardware compatibility issues and would not be very convenient for our workers to use,” said Lars Hillerup, IT Security manager, Vejle Amt. “The Entrust IdentityGuard grid authentication mechanism suited us well because it was very low cost, had very flexible architecture, working as an authentication platform for our integrational needs. We could print grid cards for each workplace and activate them when needed.”
Vejle Amt. has made an initial purchase of 500 Entrust IdentityGuard licenses with the possibility to extend to all employees; the new health region will cover approximately 30.000 employees. The deal was secured and deployed through an Entrust Premium partner in Denmark, Dubex A/S.
“We are seeing more and more organizations like Vejle Amt. need a low cost, high usability option for authenticating employees,” said Entrust Senior Vice President and General Manager of EMEA Hans Ydema. “A trusted environment where employees can access what they need to access when they need to access it really can help create value for everyone.”
“In our effort to help Vejle County meet the challenge of deploying a very flexible and secure remote working environment for their employees Entrust IdentityGuard was the right choice” said Sales Manager Torben Riesgaard Petersen “the Entrust IdentityGuard solution is a key part of our security product portfolio, which can help create great value to customers like Governmental and educational organizations who want flexible, cost effective solutions to deliver secure access to their users.”
Entrust IdentityGuard is a comprehensive strong authentication platform for Internet and enterprise applications. This suite of strong authentication capabilities can help enable organizations to take a risk-based approach to tailoring a security deployment. The flexible deployment options can enable organizations to match strong authentication methods to the level of risk they have determined to be associated with the different types of users, transactions and applications in their environments. In addition to grid card authentication, Entrust IdentityGuard supports Zero Touch Fraud Detection™, machine authentication, challenge/response, out-of-band passwords, one-time passwords by email, picture replay, geo location and even Vasco Digipass tokens.
