GSA List of PD-VAL Qualified Products Adds More Solutions From Entrust

Entrust now the only company to have four solutions tested and approved on this distinguished list

08 Jun 2006

DALLAS -  Three additional solutions from Entrust, Inc. [NASDAQ: ENTU] have met the criteria for the Path Discovery and Validation (PD-VAL) Qualified Validation List (QVL). Products with this distinction are approved by the Federal public key infrastructure (PKI) Policy Authority for use by Federal agencies in implementing the PD-VAL guidelines in a bridge-enabled environment. In addition, agencies participating in the eAuthentication Initiative are required to use products on the PD-VAL list. Joining the Entrust TruePass™ server 8.0 on this distinguished list are the Entrust Authority™ Security Toolkit for the Java Platform 7.1, the Entrust GetAccess™ server 7.1 and the Entrust® Verification Server 7.1.

"Path discovery and validation is key to maintaining the chain of trust between governmental agency applications. The role of the PD-VAL testing is to determine whether products are correctly performing the certificate and security level validation for the users accessing various multi-agency applications," said Entrust Senior Vice President Peter Bello. "This really helps enable greater efficiency across the different agencies because it helps allow agency employees to use their existing user credential to access just about any application they need to do their job no matter which agency owns it."

To help federal agencies navigate the sea of security vendors, the PD-VAL list serves to make recommendations to the federal PKI community on infrastructure and desktop solutions that support bridge-enabled certificate validation. The PD-VAL list contains four categories that include products, toolkits, applications and services that provide government agencies with options to implement PD-VAL in various ways. Toolkits may be used to enable the development of custom applications that require PD-VAL capabilities. Applications are COTS products that natively include PD-VAL capabilities. Products are considered as plug-ins that add or supplement PD-VAL capabilities to applications. The hosting of a qualified validation server in an accredited facility that can provide PD-VAL capabilities to clients is defined as services.

Entrust also is the only company with solutions on the PD-VAL list that also is pursuing Shared Service Provider status to meet HSPD-12 requirements. This combination will allow customers who need a public key (PKI) solution that goes beyond personal identity verification (PIV) a choice that also allows them to stay in compliance with other security guidelines set forth by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA).

The Entrust GetAccess server is a high performance, scalable Web access control solution. It can centrally manage access to multiple applications through a single portal, providing users with single sign-on to the applications and content they are authorized to see.  It has been on the list of approved E-Authentication products under the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) E-Authentication Initiative since August of 2004.

The Entrust Authority Security Toolkit for the Java Platform helps enable organizations to improve service levels and cost-effectively secure custom application development. With the Entrust Authority Security Toolkit for the Java Platform, developers are able to build and deploy online business applications with flexible, modular security services, including encryption and digital signatures using X.509 managed certificates.

The Entrust Verification Server provides a platform for signing of data objects and for validation of certificates, offloading the client and centralizing the digital signature service.
