DALLAS - To better serve their citizens, governments around the world are moving more services online. To support the security for these transactions, they have begun issuing epasses with the Government of Canada leading the charge. This electronic credential leveraging Entrust's technology allows users to have a higher level of confidence in their online transactions. Today Entrust, Inc. [NASDAQ: ENTU] applauds the Government of Canada's Secure Channel project for surpassing the 1.5 million mark for the number of epasses it has issued to its citizens.
"It's no secret that citizens are expecting a higher level of service and security from their government," said Entrust Senior Vice President Kevin Simzer. "Crossing the 1.5 million milestone is quite a feat and speaks to the demand citizens have for online services from their government. We expect more governments around the world to follow suit as the expectation for greater service permeates their citizenry."
As a common service, epass Enabled Services provides economies of scale while avoiding the duplication, overlap and interoperability issues that can arise when departments develop their own customized solutions. The epass helps standardize electronic service delivery across government agencies and was designed with the user in mind. It is a privacy friendly, convenient and portable credential that enables services that use enhanced security.
