Entrust TruePass™ Solution Makes Distinguished GSA List of PD-VAL Qualified Products

Only Five Companies Reach This Pivotal Milestone as HSPD-12 Deadline Looms on the Horizon

19 Apr 2006

DALLAS – To help federal agencies navigate the sea of security vendors, the Path Discovery and Validation Working Group (PD-VAL WG) serves to make recommendations to the federal public key infrastructure (PKI) community on infrastructure and desktop solutions that support bridge-enabled certificate validation. Entrust, Inc. [NASDAQ: ENTU] has made the distinguished list of five vendors who have met the criteria for the Qualified Validation List (QVL) with the Entrust TruePass™ 8.1 SP 1 solution. Products with this distinction are therefore approved by the Federal PKI Policy Authority for use by Federal agencies in implementing PD-VAL in a bridge-enabled environment.

“With the fuse of the Homeland Security Presidential Directive number 12 (HSPD-12) requirements quickly running out, government agencies are scrambling to meet the requirements and need help sifting through vendors to choose ones who have gone through the rigorous testing to determine whether they meet the compatibility criteria for use with other federal security systems,” said Entrust Senior Vice President Kevin Simzer. “Being one of only five companies making this important cut puts us in a great position to help government agencies who need to move quickly to implement a strong security solution.”

There are four categories that include products, toolkits, applications and services that provide government agencies with options to implement PD-VAL in various ways. Toolkits may be used to enable the development of custom applications that require PD-VAL capabilities. Applications are COTS products that natively include PD-VAL capabilities. Products are considered as plug-ins that add or supplement PD-VAL capabilities to applications. The hosting of a qualified validation server in an accredited facility that can provide PD-VAL capabilities to clients is defined as services.

Entrust TruePass is a “zero-footprint,” comprehensive and modular web security solution that provides end-to-end security capabilities that can help enable organizations to protect end-user identities and move business processes online. Security services like strong authentication, end-to-end encryption and digital signatures can help allow the delivery of new services via the Internet while providing privacy and accountability for on-line transactions.
