Eurogiro Networks Enlists Entrust to Help Secure Cross-Border Payments

Entrust Authority™ Security Manager to be used to help secure communications among Eurogiro users

15 Mar 2006

DALLAS – Any time a company is trusted with moving money online, it is important to protect both the transactions and communication about those transactions. When a company is charged with moving money across borders, the stakes get even higher. That is why Eurogiro Network A/S selected Entrust, Inc.'s [NASDAQ: ENTU] Entrust Authority™ Security Manager for their second generation public key infrastructure (PKI) solution to provide security for transactions that are taking place on their network.

"With the migration of our PKI to Entrust we wanted to strengthen the security in the exchange of payment instructions in our network and make it easy for our members to install and use," said Eurogiro Network's IT Director Uwe Holmsgaard. "The Entrust Authority Security Manager solution allowed us to have the highest level of confidence in our communications. It also gave us the advantage of integrating the solution completely into our own application using the Entrust Authority™ Security Toolkit for the Java Platform. With Entrust we have the flexibility to manage the PKI environment ourselves and provide our members with platform independent installation procedures."

Eurogiro strengthens cooperation between giro and postbanks and commercial banks for electronic payment solutions. Eurogiro offers alliances and service level agreements to enable competitive, cross-border payment processing. Eurogiro will leverage both Entrust Authority Security Manager and Entrust toolkit integration.

"Eurogiro is in the position of having to secure payments not just within organizations but also between financial institutions in different countries, so the level of trust their members need to have in them is at the highest level," said Entrust Managing Director of EMEA Hans Ydema. "Helping Eurogiro to provide security for these types of transactions is a task we were happy to assist them with."

By managing the full lifecycles of digital certificate-based digital identities, Entrust Authority Security Manager enables encryption, digital signature and authentication capabilities to be consistently and transparently applied across a broad range of applications and platforms.

The Entrust Authority Security Manager is a modular solution for issuing and managing users' digital identities. Additional components can then be easily integrated to help address an organization's additional security requirements and transparently automate security-related processes through one common infrastructure.
