Entrust and Citrix Enable Strong Authentication for Remote Access

Entrust IdentityGuard makes cost-effective strong authentication available for Citrix customers

21 Sep 2005

DALLAS – Entrust, Inc. [NASDAQ: ENTU], a world leader in securing digital identities and information, today announced the completion of Entrust Ready interoperability testing of the Entrust IdentityGuard solution and Citrix Systems, Inc.’s market-leading Citrix Presentation Server™ remote access solution, helping global organizations deploy industry-leading security to help protect critical enterprise resources. Interoperability between Entrust IdentityGuard and Citrix Presentation Server makes low-cost, strong authentication available for use with one of the most widely used products for centrally deploying and managing applications.

“Security is a key issue for organizations deploying remote access to enterprise resources,” said David Jones, Corporate Vice President, Business Development for Citrix. “For those looking to add greater information security, eliminating deployment obstacles for both IT and end users is critical to a project’s success. Entrust IdentityGuard, together with Citrix Presentation Server, will give customers easy-to-use strong authentication for sensitive enterprise applications helping to allow them to realize greater returns on their Citrix access infrastructure investment.”

Developed by a recognized global leader in information security, Entrust IdentityGuard is an easy-to-use strong authentication solution that can be used across the enterprise to help secure sensitive applications and data. Compared with other more complicated and expensive token alternatives, Entrust IdentityGuard provides a simple alternative, deploying grids of characters that are in turn used to answer a random challenge presented when accessing sensitive enterprise applications remotely.

The New Zealand Ministry of Economic Development is focused on improving government performance and service through the use of technology. One such use is facilitating business continuity and employee productivity through employee remote access. “Our goal is to deliver day-to-day business applications in a secure manner to the end user wherever he or she may be,” said Stephen Isaacs, Senior IT Architect at the Ministry of Economic Development of New Zealand. “We required strong authentication in order to provide secure remote access via Citrix MetaFrame for all of our employees. Entrust IdentityGuard was the most cost-effective solution for us for delivering this additional security capability.”

Citrix Presentation Server, a key part of the Citrix Access Suite™, delivers enterprise applications through a centralized and secure architecture. It also delivers the best access experience for everyone by providing an instant return on investment for the business, improved productivity for users, and enhanced administrative efficiency, system control, and security for IT. The interoperability between Citrix and Entrust requires only minor configuration changes to a current deployment, with no requirement for client-side changes, helping to reduce both cost and time for deployment.

“The economic and productivity benefits that accompany deploying a remote access solution in today’s workplace are significant,” said Kevin Simzer, Senior Vice President at Entrust. “Securing remote access with end-user strong authentication is equally important. Entrust IdentityGuard’s interoperability with Presentation Server can provide this additional value-add, and more importantly, at a price that can make it cost effective for the solution to be deployed across an organization’s entire employee base.”

This solution has been awarded the Entrust Ready designation, with Citrix being a valued Entrust TrustedPartner for over 2 years. Please learn more about Entrust IdentityGuard.
