Swedish National Labor Market Administration (AMV) Selects Entrust IdentityGuard Solution to Secure Web Services For Employees

Ease of use, low cost and deployment speed all factors in selecting Entrust IdentityGuard Solution to secure on-line access to services to be delivered and implemented by Pointsec

15 Feb 2005

DALLAS – Entrust, Inc. [NASDAQ: ENTU], a world-leader in securing digital identities and information, today announced that the Entrust IdentityGuard system, its new, innovative product for countering on-line identity theft, has been selected by Arbetsmarknadsverket (AMV), the Swedish National Labor Market Administration, to provide second factor authentication for its internal employees. The Entrust IdentityGuard solution will be delivered to AMV and implemented by Pointsec – an Entrust strategic business partner and a leader in the Nordic digital identity market.

Entrust IdentityGuard was selected by AMV because in its view, Entrust IdentityGuard provided the necessary security while allowing AMV to rapidly integrate and deploy the solution at a lower cost than traditional hardware-based authentication products.

During the initial phase of the implementation, AMV plans to use the Entrust IdentityGuard solution to provide stronger authentication for internal employees accessing AMV’s e-mail system via the Web. Entrust IdentityGuard provides a strong combination of security, low cost and ease of use for this type of environment.

“Securing the delivery of services to our employees is a very high priority and Entrust IdentityGuard made it possible,” said Bo Magnusson, IS Strategist with AMV. “Entrust’s solution delivers the necessary strong authentication using a method that will be intuitive for all kinds of users. Entrust IdentityGuard was also significantly less expensive than alternative products and was easy to integrate – it was up and running in our environment in less than two days.”

“The demand for on-line services is also driving the need to secure identities in the face of increasing attack,” said Bill Conner, Chairman, President and Chief Executive at Entrust. “The Entrust IdentityGuard solution is a key part of our broad set of security solutions, which is particularly important to customers like Governmental organizations who need innovative, cost effective solutions to deliver secure Internet services to their users.”

With the AMV customer win, Entrust and the distribution channel, Pointsec, have further cemented their position as leading security providers for organizations preparing to make more and more services available via the Internet. These organizations recognize that online security measures must be taken to help protect sensitive information from theft or misuse. The Entrust IdentityGuard system can provide a low-cost and easy-to-deploy solution to deliver security that is critical for checking the identity of people who are accessing services and systems.

“Strategically, AMV is a very important customer, and we are looking forward to developing other areas of use together with AMV in the future,” said Thomas Bill, CEO of Protect Data, Pointsec’s parent company.

About Entrust IdentityGuard
Entrust IdentityGuard provides a simple method of authenticating users by deploying random grids of numbers and/or characters that are in turn used to answer a challenge presented when accessing on-line services. By requiring different combinations from the grid to answer each randomized challenge, attackers have a low probability of being able to intercept a login and use it to subsequently to gain access to a user’s account. Implementation of the Entrust IdentityGuard system is made easier for customers by working with their existing applications to add incremental authentication requirements to existing username and password deployments.
