The Proxy Server: How does it work?
The Entrust GetAccess Proxy Server provides a central point of security for all protected Web servers. All authentication, single sign-on, and entitlements are brokered through the proxy server. In addition, resource URLs are translated through the Proxy Server thereby preventing malicious or unwanted access to files or resources residing on a given Web server. As standard with Entrust GetAccess, users are afforded the convenience of a personalized access menu to access data and information across servers and resources.
With the Entrust GetAccess Proxy Server, Web servers can be placed behind a firewall. All access by external users is centralized through the Proxy Server. With native load balancing and ease of administration the Entrust GetAccess Proxy Server provides Web based tools to manage and configure users, servers and system behavior.
Entrust GetAccess™ Proxy Server Environment
- One Proxy Server system can protect several Web Servers
- Protected Web Servers can be any standard HTTP Web server
- No Entrust GetAccess software is required on Protected Web Servers
- Protected Web Servers can reside behind the firewall
The Entrust GetAccess Proxy Server is a standard Entrust GetAccess protected Web application. It uses an Entrust GetAccess™ Runtime Service like any other Entrust GetAccess protected resource. It can protect one or many Web applications regardless of the platform as long as the application is using HTTP. The Proxy Server can also co-exist with other Entrust GetAccess runtime protected resources
