OMB M-06-16: Securing Laptops and Remote Access
US Federal Government
The Veterans Affairs hard drive theft last year put a spotlight on the issue of sensitive data being stored on government laptops or otherwise accessed by remote workers. OMB responded by issuing M-06-16, "Protection of Sensitive Agency Information", directing agencies to add two-factor authentication for remote access (VPN) and encrypt data on laptops and mobile devices.
Entrust has solutions that can help to easily and cost-effectively address this directive and improve information security at your agency, including:
- Entrust IdentityGuard for Enterprise is a low cost multi-factor authentication platform that enables a flexible approach to securing remote access
- Entrust Entelligence Disk Security is a comprehensive laptop and desktop security solution that automatically protects the contents of a hard disk through full disk encryption, authorization and strong user authentication
- Entrust Entelligence Media Security provides protection for data transferred or stored on removable media such as memory sticks, USB drives and floppy disks.
These solutions provide strong data protection with:
- Minimal impact on the end user
- Low total cost of ownership
- Consistent security policy enforcement and administration
- Required third party validation such as FIPS 140-2 and Common Criteria
- A flexible way to implement a layered security approach
