US Federal Government: Shared Service Providers
The Entrust Managed PKI Service has been approved to offer digital certificates to the Federal government under the Shared Service Provider program. The Entrust Managed PKI Service has been designed to meet US Federal Common policy and standards requirements while providing the same high level of technology and services that have positioned Entrust as a leader in PKI.
The Shared Service Provider (SSP) program was established under the Federal Identity Credentialing Committee (FICC) and Federal PKI Policy Authority to give US Federal departments and agencies a way to access PKI services while leveraging previous government investments.
Under the Electronic Government Act of 2002, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) determined that beginning in FY 2006, Federal Agencies that intend to use PKI services will be buying from qualified service providers operating under the Federal Common Policy Framework. Agencies with PKI operations that are cross-certified with the Federal Bridge Certification Authority (FBCA) will not be required to migrate to new service providers. The FBCA is a multi-agency information-sharing infrastructure powered by Entrust's PKI technology ties together cross-certified organizations.
Entrust Managed PKI Service offers Personal Identity Verification (PIV) certificates as well as certificates for digital signatures and encryption. The Service provides the management functions that have set Entrust apart from other vendors in the market including high availability, disaster recovery, automated failover and network protection. Additional benefits of Entrust's PKI service include intrusion protection, anti-virus for the Certification Authority (CA) services, denial of service protections and archival of CA data.
